Since the beginning of the Global Financial Crisis 2007-2009 central banks were forced to imply unconventional monetary policies, since interest rates reached the zero lower bound and any conventional policy could not be used to mitigate the crisis. The implications of those policies have been studied by many researchers, but some questions still remain unanswered. 

The relevant literature already offers a lot of empirical and theoretical conclusions on the subject, but most of the work is concentrated on case studies or inside effects, where mostly financial sector was under the scope. Also, most of the research is focused on quantitative easing or on forward guidance separately, but since those two policy measures were mostly applied together, this research will investigate the impact of both. It will be extended to a cross-country comparison to catch their spillover effects from the advanced economies where they were applied to emerging ones, as well as the spillover effect from the financial to non-financial sector. It is also evident that there is still a little empirical evidence on the effects that unconventional monetary policies had on real economy. This PhD thesis attends to fill this gap by investigating the impact of the programs of central banks on the sectors of real economy of advanced and emerging economies.

It is obvious that this research will contribute to the existing literature by examining the spillover effects between countries and between financial and non-financial sectors of economies as a result of unconventional policy measures and the effects that those policies had on the real economy. Those results are crucial for understanding of the importance of better international policy coordination in the case of future crises.
