| Τίτλος διατριβής: Δοκίμια εργασίας σε θέματα εφαρμοσμένης μακροοικονομικής ανάλυσης: οικονομική ανάπτυξη, δημοσιονομική προσαρμογή, απελευθέρωση εμπορίου και αγορά εργασίας Το θέμα της διδακτορικής διατριβής άπτεται μακροοικονομικών ζητημάτων και ειδικότερα μελετά την επίδραση της δημοσιονομικής πολιτικής στο εμπορικό ισοζύγιο μιας οικονομίας, αλλά και στο ανθρώπινο κεφάλαιο. Στόχος είναι να διερευνηθούν τα κανάλια επίδρασης των δημοσιονομικών πολιτικών, δημόσιες δαπάνες, φορολογία και δανεισμός στις εισαγωγές και εξαγωγές μιας χώρας. Η ανάλυση θα αφορά τις χώρες της ΕΕ28 για την περίοδο 1995-2018, ενώ βασικός στόχος είναι να διερευνηθούν οι διασυνδέσεις δημοσιονομικής πολιτικής και εμπορικού ισοζυγίου, ορίζοντας τα διαφορετικά επίπεδα χρέους, επιτοκίων, ανοίγματος εμπορίου και παγίων επενδύσεων. Στη βιβλιογραφία έχουν επικρατήσει τέσσερα θεωρητικά κανάλια, σύμφωνα με τα οποία εξηγείται η διασύνδεση δημοσιονομικής πολιτικής και εμπορικού ισοζυγίου (Algieri 2013) (α) η θεωρία των δίδυμων ελλειμμάτων (twin deficit hypothesis), (β) η θεωρία του Ισοζυγίου Τρεχουσών Συναλλαγών (the current account targeting hypothesis), (γ) η ανατροφοδοτούμενη αιτιότητα (feedback linkage) και (δ) το Ρικαρτνιανό Ισοδύναμο (the inter-temporal Ricardian view). | ||

| Essays in applied macroeconomics: economic growth, fiscal consolidation, trade openness and the labour market In this study we will try to explore the paths through which the fiscal policy and the trade balance interact each other in the EU countries with annual data for 1995-2018, by considering different debt, openness, interest rates and capital formation regimes. It is possible to identify four streams of literature (Algieri 2013) that explain the nexus between budget deficit and current account deficit, (a) the twin deficit hypothesis, (b) the current account targeting hypothesis, (c) the feedback linkage and (d) the inter-temporal Ricardian view. The twin deficit hypothesis stands when fiscal expansions triggers higher interest rates and exchange rate, leading to trade deterioration in the case of floating exchange rates. In the other case of fixed exchange rates, Keynes absorption stands, thought higher imports due to fiscal expansion. | ||
